Paul McCartney announced the formation of his new band Wings, on this day in 1971. Paul on vocals and bass, his wife Linda on keyboards, guitarist Denny Laine, and drummer Denny Seiwell.
On this day in 1979, AC/DC releases “Highway to Hell,” their last album with original vocalist Bon Scott.
Also in 1979, the movie “More American Graffiti,” opened in U.S. and Canadian movie theaters. The film didn’t come close to the original at the box office, even though most of the stars of the movie had gone on to bigger things, and were more well known.
Let’s jump to this day in 1987. Def Lepperd releases their album “Hysteria.” It’s sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, spawned six hit singles, and is the band’s best-selling album to date. It took over 3 years to make, with the accident involving drummer Rick Allen, and mumps contracted by lead singer Joe Elliott. It is also listed as one of the most expensive albums ever made.
On this day in 2010. Madonna launches her “Material Girl” line of clothing, shoes, jewelry and handbags at Macy’s. The line is targeted to teenage girls and based in part on some of Madonna’s various looks. Assisting the 51-year-old singer with the project is her 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes.
And it was just two years ago today, when Gwen Stefani filed for Divorce from Gavin Rossdale. She soon hooked up with Blake Shelton, and has been with him ever since.
